Job description

Simformotion LLC - the licensee for Cat® Simulators for Caterpillar Inc seeks a full-time Junior Embedded Systems Engineer. Join our innovative team as a Junior Embedded Systems Engineer, where you will assist in the testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of software, firmware, system, and electrical defects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain cutting-edge embedded systems, leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies. This role requires hands-on expertise in embedded systems and wired assemblies, strong problem-solving skills, and interaction with diverse stakeholders, including staff, clients, and suppliers., * Assist in testing, troubleshooting, and resolving software, firmware, system, and electrical defects.

  • Learn and work with proprietary CAN bus protocols.
  • Learn and work with proprietary USB HID vendor-specific protocols.
  • Support maintenance and R&D of 32-bit MCU platforms.
  • Assist in developing embedded C firmware.
  • Support PCB design and layout.
  • Work with USB, CAN, digital circuits, analog circuits, PWM, capture/compare, DC circuits, and gate logic.
  • Assist in developing proprietary CAN protocols and drivers.
  • Support software development for interfacing proprietary embedded hardware and subsystems to PCs.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing APIs and DLLs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of proprietary platform software setup and diagnostic tools.
  • Assist in R&D of automation, simulation, emulation, software, and hardware solutions.
  • Support wire harness fabrication, connectivity wiring designs, and wiring support between circuits, modules, controls, devices, components, embedded systems, and PC platforms.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Troubleshooting electrical systems?, * Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Relevant experience or internships in embedded systems design and software development
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing, assembly, SMT, soldering, and PCB Layout software.

Skills and Requirements

  • Basic experience with embedded systems and firmware development.
  • Proficient in C, C++, and C# programming languages.
  • Basic knowledge of PCB design and layout.
  • Basic knowledge of DC circuits and electronic engineering.
  • Excellent communication and professional interaction skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, including debugging and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with software product lifecycles is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes., * Experience in embedded systems design, process development, and manufacturing.
  • Electrical engineering with computer option.
  • Application interface development experience.
