Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled systems engineer to join the IBM Quantum team. In this role, you will partner with infrastructural technology teams to accelerate IBM Quantum’s progress towards fault-tolerant quantum computers. Your responsibilities will include defining and implementing cross-team integration and test plans as well as establishing best practices for engineering documentation, requirements tracking, and change control. This role will provide broad exposure to IBM’s efforts across signal delivery, control electronics, cryogenics, and readout hardware, offering candidates ample opportunities to self-identify domains in which they can make deep technical contributions.

Requirements

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Masters in physics, electrical engineering or related field
  • Strong technical communication skills

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • PhD in physics, electrical engineering or related field
  • Technical expertise with one or more of the following areas: complex circuit test, low noise measurement, microwave electronics, test automation, qubit calibration and test
  • Strong knowledge of component and system level performance metrics for quantum computers
  • Leadership experience as demonstrated by prior roles in technical product, program, or personnel management
