Quantum Computing Simulation Software

Job description

  1. In this role, you will help design, simulate, and layout the next generation of IBM Quantum processors. Our ambitious quantum roadmap requires continuous improvements in processor performance, scalability, and reliability while introducing new capabilities and technologies. As a Research Scientist, you will invent and model new processor technologies, including novel gates that connect qubits across a quantum chip, inter-chip entangling gates, advanced readout schemes, and novel reset mechanisms. You will design, simulate, and lay out test devices and work closely with experimental teams to evaluate their performance. You will then integrate successful innovations into the next generation of IBM Quantum processors, helping to shape the future of quantum computing.

Requirements

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Deep Understanding of Quantum Computing Theory: Requires a profound comprehension of quantum computing principles, including error correction, quantum algorithms, and quantum device physics, to generate novel ideas and advance the state-of-the-art in this field.

  • Expertise in Quantum Hardware and Device Design: Needs extensive knowledge of quantum hardware and device design, optimal control theory, and experimentation to engineer ideas to an advanced state of feasibility.

  • Proficiency in Experimental Physics: Demands expertise in experimental physics, including low-noise cryogenic amplifiers, and experience with simulation of quantum systems and physical systems to implement and validate ideas.

  • Advanced Knowledge of Quantum Operations: Requires in-depth understanding of quantum operations, including multi-qubit gates optimization, quantum transduction, and decoherence mechanisms to develop and implement novel ideas.

  • Masters degree in physics, electrical engineering or related field

  • Experience in design and simulation of superconducting quantum processors.

  • Experience with microwave simulation software

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • PhD in physics, electrical engineering or related field

  • Experience measuring superconducting qubits
