Job description

The GIS Specialist position will support enterprise GIS operations, public safety initiatives, and Next Generation 911 (NG911) programs. This position develops, maintains, and analyzes geospatial data to support County departments, emergency services, planning activities, and decision-making processes. This position is located within the Department of Emergency Services.

Duties:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise GIS databases, applications, and mapping solutions.
  • Support GIS operations for Emergency Services, E911 Communications, and public safety agencies.
  • Perform spatial analysis and create maps, dashboards, and reports for County departments and stakeholders.
  • Design and implement web-based GIS applications and mobile data collection tools.
  • Develop GIS automation and custom workflows using Python, SQL, and ESRI technologies.
  • Maintain critical public safety datasets, including addressing, road centerlines, response zones, and NG911 data.
  • Lead and support CAD-GIS integration efforts and data quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with municipalities, state agencies, public safety partners, and County departments to ensure accurate geospatial data.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and training related to GIS applications and processes.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Quality control?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Planning, Computer Science, or a related field with significant GIS coursework. One to three years of professional GIS experience. Proficiency with the ESRI ArcGIS Platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, and ModelBuilder. Experience with SQL, Python, JavaScript, and HTML. Experience developing web maps, dashboards, and mobile GIS applications. Knowledge of geospatial database design, maintenance, and quality control practices. Familiarity with public safety GIS, addressing systems, NG911 standards, or emergency management operations is preferred. Valid Driver’s License. Ability to successfully pass background check and drug screening., * Do you have experience developing web maps, dashboards, and mobile GIS applications?

  • Are you able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check?
  • Are you experienced with the ESRI ArcGIS Platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, and ModelBuilder, SQL, Python, JavaScript, and HTML?
  • Do you have familiarity with public safety GIS, addressing systems, NG911 standards, or emergency management operations?
