Job description

This is a principal-level individual contributor role responsible for defining the standards that govern how we design, build, and operate software across our entire platform - and for ensuring those standards are upheld. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker capable of grasping large, complex architectural problems and translating them into structured, executable plans. This person earns influence through deep expertise, clear communication, and a consistent track record of sound technical judgment. They will work across all teams and technology stacks, providing guidance and oversight that elevates the quality and consistency of our engineering output. This person will also provide technical oversight to our near-shore team that is performing engineering contract work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define, document, and enforce architectural and engineering standards across

all teams and technology stacks.

  • Review system designs and technical proposals to ensure alignment with

established standards.

  • Serve as the final technical authority on platform-wide architectural decisions.
  • Own schema design standards and governance across PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments.
  • Lead database performance analysis, tuning, capacity planning, and scalability initiatives.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for data modeling, indexing, migration strategy, and data access patterns.
  • Establish and lead an architecture review process that governs major technical decisions across the organization.
  • Implement an RFC framework that ensures significant design decisions are documented, evaluated, and decided deliberately and consistently.
  • Evaluate new technologies, platforms, and third-party tools against architecture standards and long-term platform strategy.
  • Provide well-reasoned, clearly documented recommendations that enable teams to make informed decisions.
  • Provide oversight to off-shore and near-shore teams and provide architectural guidance.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technical writing?, * 10+ years of software engineering experience, with substantial tenure in architecture or principal engineering roles.

  • Deep expertise in relational and NoSQL database design, with hands-on proficiency in PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Demonstrated experience governing systems architecture across AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to define engineering standards and drive adoption across multiple teams through expertise and credibility.
  • Experience in 3PL, logistics, supply chain, or warehouse management strongly preferred; domain context directly informs data modeling, integration architecture, and operational design.
  • Exceptional written communication skills - capable of producing RFCs, Architecture Decision Records, and standards documentation that are clear, durable, and actionable., * Systems thinker who translates complex architectural problems into structured, executable plans.
  • Earns influence through deep expertise and sound technical judgment, not title or authority.
  • Able to engage equally at the system design level and the implementation detail level.
  • Clear, direct written communicator - produces documentation that is durable and actionable.
  • Collaborative, low-ego disposition with a genuine commitment to raising the technical bar across the organization.
