Job description

The Support Technician is a key member of a landscape crew that specializes in urban tree maintenance and works under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, but takes day-to-day direction from the Field Technician on the shift.

The Support Technician will:

  • Perform tree care and maintenance, including but not limited to watering, mulching, pruning, staking, insecticide application, reconstructing tree berms, patching erosion, weeding tree wells, inspecting and evaluating tree health.
  • Refill the watering tank using a designated, permitted water meter and city hydrants.
  • Complete additional assigned work, including truck checks, inventory checks, equipment inspections, and daily timesheets.
  • Have familiarity of DropBox, Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Professional and be comfortable with utilizing.
  • Follow all Arbor Vitae processes, procedures, and safety practices as described in the Employee Handbook.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Safety standard operating procedures?, * At least 3 months of experience in landscape maintenance OR at least 6 months of experience in a similar line of work such as construction, gardening, agriculture, warehouse work, or similar.

  • A degree is not necessary to do this job but a passion for arboriculture, horticulture, conservation, forestry, urban ecology and/or community improvement are all desirable.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication and ability to relate to and work with other employees.
  • A can-do attitude and desire to do good work that delights our customers.
  • Understanding and respect for established safety policies and procedures.
  • Have familiarity of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Professional and be comfortable with utilizing
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States

Physical Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive, moderate to strenuous physical activity in the field and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass a DOT Physical.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions at all times of year.

Benefits & conditions

Schedule: Operations will run Monday - Friday, however, scheduled days may vary based on candidate availability. Saturday shifts may also be available based on client needs.

Benefits: Partial work attire. Seasonal employment is not eligible for health or time off benefits. Federal holidays will be observed: July 3, September 7., We are flexible on scheduling and hours commitment - we are open to candidates seeking full-time hours (5 days/week) or part-time hours (3 days/week including possible Saturday availability). Total weekly hours will range from 16 to 40 depending on candidate preference and operational fit. This position is a seasonal/temporary assignment with a 60-day probationary period. Permanent employment is not guaranteed and is based on budget and program needs, however, off-season opportunities are expected to become available but hours may be adjusted.

Normal working hours are 7am - 4pm with a one hour lunch break.
