Job description

Taylor is the person who can look at a client’s books, accounting workflow, reporting process, and team handoffs and see a better way.

They understand accounting well enough to recognize when the chart of accounts is creating reporting friction, when reconciliations are taking too long, when month-end close is too dependent on manual review, when data is being touched too many times, or when Accountants and Controllers are spending time on work that could be streamlined, automated, or supported by AI.

Taylor is not just a systems person. They are not just an automation person. They are an accounting process thinker who understands how the work actually gets done - and how to make that work better.

They can sit with an Accountant and understand where the task-level friction is. They can sit with a Controller and understand where review, close, reporting, and accountability are breaking down. They can sit with a CFO and understand what information needs to be cleaner, faster, and more useful for advisory decisions. They can also partner with the Tech team when permissions, integrations, security, or system architecture matter.

Taylor sits at the intersection of accounting, financial operations, systems, automation, AI, and client delivery. Their job is to help NLN’s accounting and client delivery teams become more efficient without sacrificing accuracy, judgment, controls, or client trust.

How Taylor Shows Up

  • Looks at client books and accounting workflows to identify inefficiencies, reporting friction, and process gaps
  • Understands close, reconciliations, reporting, chart of accounts structure, data flow, and review points
  • Helps Accountants and Controllers work more efficiently through better workflows, tools, automations, templates, and AI-supported processes
  • Uses AI to reduce manual work, improve documentation, support quality control, draft first-pass commentary, summarize tasks, and strengthen internal knowledge sharing
  • Protects accounting accuracy and human review while improving speed and consistency
  • Connects the dots between Accounting, CFO, Operations, Tech, and client needs
  • Builds practical solutions people actually use
  • Documents, tests, trains, and improves based on feedback
  • Brings recommendations, not just observations

Taylor is comfortable saying:

“We do not just need another workaround. We need to understand the books, the workflow, and the handoffs - then design a better way.”

Core Strengths

  • Accounting workflow diagnosis
  • Client books and reporting process review
  • Close and reconciliation process improvement
  • Accountant and Controller efficiency enablement
  • Automation and AI-supported workflow design
  • Systems and data flow improvement
  • Documentation, training, and adoption
  • Cross-functional problem solving
  • Measurable efficiency gains

Accountability & Ownership

Taylor owns accounting solution improvements from discovery through rollout.

They review client accounting workflows, books, reporting processes, reconciliations, handoffs, and recurring pain points to identify where the work can be improved. They design better workflows, build or coordinate automations, support AI-enabled processes, document the solution, train users, and measure adoption.

They help Accountants reduce repetitive manual work. They help Controllers improve close, review, reporting, and workflow visibility. They help CFOs get cleaner information faster for client conversations. They partner with Tech when integrations, access, permissions, security, APIs, or platform architecture are involved.

What Success Looks Like

  • Client books and accounting workflows are cleaner, more consistent, and easier to manage
  • Accountants spend less time on repetitive manual work
  • Controllers spend less time chasing, correcting, and reworking
  • Close, reconciliations, reporting, onboarding, advisory prep, and follow-up become faster and more consistent
  • AI-supported workflows improve documentation, quality control, communication, task routing, and first-pass analysis
  • Financial data moves more cleanly across systems and client deliverables
  • Team members understand the workflow and trust the tools
  • NLN scales delivery without sacrificing accuracy, judgment, controls, or client experience

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who can look at accounting work and see how it should work better.

This person understands books, close processes, reconciliations, reporting, workflows, and client delivery well enough to identify inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions. They also understand automation and AI well enough to know where technology can reduce friction, support quality, and improve consistency.

They are not a traditional accountant who only wants to process work. They are not a pure technology person who does not understand accounting. They are the bridge between accounting judgment, workflow design, automation, AI, and practical adoption.

Role Scope

Owns accounting solution improvements, workflow design, automation development, AI-supported process design, documentation, testing, adoption, and measurable efficiency gains across NLN’s accounting and client delivery workflows.
