Job description
The UX/Frontend Engineer helps develop and maintain a standard design system for use across all University websites. They will develop the components defined in this system into Gutenberg Blocks in WordPress. And, the position will have ongoing interactions with testing groups to refine existing components and improve the overall usability of University web and mobile content. Providing these components enhances consistency, improves user experience, and makes it easier for unit employees to manage and maintain high-quality content without being a developer or designer.
Requirements
- Strong skills with web languages, frameworks and tools: HTML, CSS, JS, React, NPM, Webpack, Gulp/Grunt, Docker, AJAX/REST, Chrome Developer Tools
- An understanding of Scrum/Agile development methodologies
- Experience building responsive web components.
- Firm understanding of accessibility and standards supporting WCAG AA
- Experience developing with WordPress (Gutenberg Block experience is preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with end users, back-end developers, and designers.
- Excellent communication skills
