The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Embedded SW Products Test Engineer, for the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)/Fire Solutions Research and Development (R&D) Services Team located in Monroe, NC you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Testing complex embedded SW electro-mechanical product solutions and mobile / Windows applications.

  • Ensuring solutions meet engineering requirements, defining test requirements and processes.

  • Communicating to Program Engineering and Program Management accepted ideas for implementation, status of existing ideas, and overall performance to target, Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, engineering, or computer science (completed and verified prior to start).

  • Three (3) year(s) of embedded software product testing and defining / creating test infrastructures in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience developing test plans for product solutions that consist of embedded SW and mobile / Windows applications

  • Experience testing complex embedded SW electro-mechanical products which include a variety of sensors (MEMS, Transducers, etc.) and wired / wireless communications (e.g. BLE, WiFi, ZigBee, LoRa)

  • Experience with version control (git, svn, other) and tracking (JIRA, TFS, other) tools

  • Experience with LabView and scripting languages (Python)

  • Experience automating testing for embedded SW products and mobile / Windows applications

  • Engineering creativity with superb problem solving and analytical skills

  • Self-directed time management to accomplishes goals / multiple projects on schedule and under time constraint

  • Flexibility to embrace change and challenges with an open mind

  • Very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and engage with people quickly

  • Experience working in a geographically diverse development organization with multi-disciplinary teams

Work location:

  • Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M in Monroe, NC.

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $98,413 - $120,282, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
