Job description

This position will work in the Application Development team of the Data Services division at ITS. The Application Development team’s purpose is to work with internal teams and external agency customers to understand their relevant business processes and requirements to develop, test, deploy, and support software applications that support the business unit’s mission.

Engage in standard coding, debugging, and modification of existing applications using the .NET framework;

Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment;

Conduct standard testing procedures to ensure the reliability and performance of applications;

Prepare and maintain documentation in accordance with established standards and practices;

Utilize existing software tools to support and maintain application functionality;

Work under the guidance of more experienced Application Developers or a Team Leader to gain institutional knowledge,

continue IT-related training and mentor less experienced staff;

Account for application security, validation, evaluation and implementation;

Solve complex problems where analysis requires in depth evaluation of various factors;

Provide support for new configurations and enhancements as a member of a development team;

Design and maintain Web-based User Interfaces that meet ADA Title II compliance - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA).

Requirements

Do you have experience in Software engineering?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, The Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented applications developer to join our dynamic team. As an Applications Developer III, you will be accountable for performing complex assignments often requiring the development of new or improved applications, processes or techniques as well as contributing to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of software applications that support the state’s services and IT infrastructure., Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5-8+ years of relevant experience in application development, preferably with a focus on web-based .NET technologies and SQL skills for database interaction.

Preferred Skills:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in web application development, including front-end and back-end technologies using .NET technologies including ASP.NET web forms;

Understand the full software development lifecycle (SDLC);

Familiar with coding standards, debugging, and testing practices;

Have working knowledge of secure coding methodologies;

Possess strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail;

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from senior team members;

Have a basic knowledge of networking concepts;

Strong customer-service competencies, oral and written communication, technical documentation, time-management, and project management skills;

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;

Be able to work in a dynamic, highly demanding, and highly visible team while keeping a professional attitude and composure;

Be able to speak and relay written information intelligently to both highly technical administrators and semi-technical personnel from various state agencies, customers, vendors, and other organizations;

Be able to work effectively alone and within a team environment, demonstrating the ability to make progress across multiple complex assignments at once.

Salary: $60,906.98-$80,000.00
