Job description

W-Industries is immediately seeking an Estimating Application Engineer with 4+ years of estimating experience, preferably in the electrical equipment manufacturing market to join our electrical manufacturing team located in NW HOUSTON. the ideal candidate will have 4+ years’ experience in engineering solutions and/or developing estimates for the oil & gas, data center, critical power, and utility markets. Requirements:

  • Review industrial/commercial building and electrical plans to determine the electrical needs of proposed projects.
  • Evaluates bid documents to determine overall scope of project.
  • Determines all documentation required for bid submittal; determines who should review or contribute information necessary to complete bid.
  • Reviews plans and specifications to identify types and grades of materials, what quotes to solicit, and what resources will be required to complete bid in compliance with project requirements and bid deadlines.
  • Create Bill of materials as per the customer specifications and requirement.
  • May attend pre-bid meetings or job interviews as required.
  • Contacts vendors and reviews plans and specifications to obtain vendor quotes.
  • Reviews quoted bill of material for accuracy.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Vendor selection?, * Knowledge of tools and principles involved in production of estimates, electrical plans, blueprints and drawings.

  • Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum’s, specifications and change orders.
  • Thorough knowledge of the electrical field with familiarity in materials and construction methods.
  • Knowledgeable of the N.E.C, local codes, and UL certifications.
  • Knowledge of estimating principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of suppliers and supplier databases applicable to project specifications.

Minimum Experience Required

  • Electrical engineering and/or estimating for manufactured products is a must.
  • Experienced with AutoCAD is a must.
  • 4+ years minimum experience estimating projects for the Oil & Gas, datacenter, or critical power industries is preferable.
  • Please be able to showcase pass wins.
  • Manufacturing experience is desired

Preferred Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, or similar studies.
  • Familiar with Eaton, ABB, AB, Siemens & GE industrial products.
  • Proficiency with electrical products designs and circuits.
  • Understanding Power systems application.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
