Impact and Insights Officer

Doc Society’s Climate Story Unit supports transformative storytelling to advance a climate just and biodiverse future. The Unit consists of a global team that works collaboratively on a series of complementary programmes, including the Climate Story Fund and the Climate Story Labs. All of our programmes support artists working on stories and impact campaigns across all mediums, including feature length documentaries, shorts, animation and episodic documentaries, as well as podcasts, AR/VR too.

As our initiatives and community expand globally, we are looking to hire a full time team member to lead on Impact and Insights across the Unit. The Impact and Insights Officer is the lynchpin of a globally distributed team and should be ready to act as the glue between team members, coordinating and planning together.

Core Responsibilities

• Capture and analyze the learnings across all of the Unit’s programs
• Identify opportunities for how the Unit’s programs can evolve to better serve the needs of our community of storytellers, impact producers, movement leaders and climate strategists
• Synthesize and share key insights publicly with the broader media and climate communities
• Support Climate Story Fund grantees inquiries regarding impact and connect grantees to available resources and experts
• Help organize impact related events, including the annual, virtual Climate Story Fund Impact Lab
• Work in close partnership with Doc Society Directors and Grant Officers to develop fundraising proposals and funder reports

• A broad understanding of climate related issues
• A deep love for storytelling and impact campaigns
• Deeply thoughtful about the role of culture in addressing the climate emergency
• Proficient writing skills; ability to interpret programmatic learnings and outcomes into compelling narratives
• Minimum 3 years experience working in documentary production, impact storytelling, grant making or artist support
• Team player committed to radical collaboration and the success of Doc Society’s vision
• A self-starter, comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Very strong interpersonal and communication skills (including written and verbal) with an ability to manage a high volume of daily phone and digital communications
• Attention to detail and skilled at managing competing priorities and project management
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Comfort in using creative software tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.
• Knowledge and use of the internet, email, and applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dropbox, Airtable, G-Suite
• Available during the Eastern Time Zone (UTC-05:00) working hours
• While our work is primarily conducted in the English language, fluency in multiple languages is a plus!

To roll our sleeves up and deliver with smarts, rigor and perfectionism. We often improvise, without a lot of formal process and set policy. We aim to get the job done right, no matter what.

Now some people perform best in more structured environments, with someone to regularly report to and a fixed job description with plenty of notice of future plans. Doc Society offers a more flexible, changeable workplace where people are able to take the initiative.
