Backend Engineer (all genders)

• Develop the core of the number 1 printing app in the world, written in Scala, which enables our customers to create personalized print products with minimal effort
• Collaborate with frontend colleagues, product designer and managers to help improve our products by designing and developing new features and REST APIs
• Proactively identify and communicate improvements in your own and your teams work
• Give and receive feedback, criticize constructively and foster an environment for constant improvement
• Share your expertise as a Backend Engineer with the Journi Team, * Coding Challenge and System Design Knowledge Interview with the Backend Team (30 min to 1 h)
• Technical interview with the Backend Team (1 h)
• Final interview with the Leadership team (1 h)

We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic Backend Engineer (mid level) who loves creating outstanding products and enjoys collaborating with a diverse, motivated team!, * 2+ years of development experience developing Backend applications (links to projects or GitHub are welcome!)

• Strong knowledge in any JVM based language such as Scala, Kotlin OR Java (if you do not have experience with Scala: You are willing and interested in learning Scala)
• Experience developing and designing REST APIs
• You know how to write automated unit tests with their respective mocks
• Experience working with any SQL database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and any NoSQL database (Redis, AWS DynamoDB, MongoDB)
• You have strong communication and collaboration skills
• You are constantly learning, asking for feedback, and self-motivated
• You have passion for solving problems
• You are permitted to work in the EU/Austria (OR have a degree in Computer Science which is required to apply for an Austrian work permit)
• You are able to relocate to / based in Vienna - the world’s most liveable city!

• Experience in prioritising workloads
• Experience with the following technologies: PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, AWS (S3, SQS, ECS, ECR, SES, RDS, CloudWatch, ElasticCache, CloudFront), GitLab, Datadog
• Experience working with statistical methods or machine learning algorithms
• Experience with migrations from monolith to microservice infrastructure
• Experience working with cross-functional teams
• CI/CD experience

• A fair annual gross salary starting from € 63.000. Our final offer depends on your experience and qualifications.
