Senior Appian Developer

The Senior Appian Developer shall lead and contribute to the design, development, and administration of Appian applications. This individual will work closely with architects, business analysts, and federal stakeholders to implement functional and technical requirements. The Senior Developer must ensure solutions comply with federal security, Section 508, and performance standards, and identify opportunities for automation and reusable component development. The developer will actively participate in design decisions and ensure that all deliverables meet enterprise and future-state requirements., * Leading development and deployment of WISE 2.0 modules including case intake, processing workflows, CAPS certificate application systems, and financial management components.

• Performing root cause analysis on defects; managing resolution and user feedback via ServiceNow. Architecting REST API integrations with external DOL systems, including dynamic PDF generation for correspondence and ETA forms.
• Leading UAT coordination, production deployment support, release management, and knowledge transfer activities for CAPS, WISE, USMCA, WHICS, and AMM applications.
• Implementing DevSecOps best practices: automated testing (FitNesse, Appian Selenium), code configuration management (Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, GitHub), and deployment automation.
• Designing Appian Cloud integrations with on-premise systems via secure REST APIs.
• Supporting sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, and product backlog prioritization with the Product Owner; providing post-launch O&M support including defect resolution and enhancement delivery.
• Analyze and understand WHD business processes to ensure technical solutions align with mission needs.
• Elicit, refine, and document functional and non-functional requirements in collaboration with program stakeholders.
• Translate business needs into well-structured JIRA epics, stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria.
• Support user story refinement sessions by clarifying scope, identifying dependencies, and ensuring development readiness.

Do you have experience in Systems integration?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in software development, with at least five (5) years in Appian application development.

• Experience with AI-assisted programming tools such as GitHub Copilot and demonstrated ability to deliver 508-compliant solutions.
• The candidate must have experience integrating large-scale Microsoft SharePoint APIs, graphics APIs, Melissa, and AWS S3.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience building high-volume ETL processes using AWS Glue is preferred.
• Experience integrating large-scale Microsoft SharePoint APIs, graphics APIs, Melissa, and AWS S3 is preferred.

Certifications

• Appian Level 3 or higher certification
• Agile/SAFe certification or equivalent experience
