Job description
The Appian Software Architect shall serve as the technical lead and architect for Appian-based solutions. This individual will design, develop, and implement Appian applications, ensuring compliance with WHD modernization roadmaps and federal standards. The Software Architect will lead integration efforts with external systems and ensure security, performance, and accessibility compliance. This role requires mentoring development teams and guiding technical planning, requirements gathering, and solution delivery. The Architect will also ensure that all architecture and implementations align with DOL enterprise standards and modernization goals., * Leading architecture design and sprint delivery across WISE 2.0 workstreams: Case Origination, Case Processing, Management Review, JRC Litigation, Financial Management, and Account Management modules.
- Designing and implementing Appian workflows, SAIL forms, dashboards, entity-backed records, process models, and REST API integrations with federal systems (SAM.gov, ServiceNow, Grants.gov) and AWS cloud services (S3, Glue, Athena).
- Leading data migration between legacy WHISARD applications and modernized Appian components using AWS Glue and Oracle Stored Procedures; integrating Appian with Apache Kafka for real-time data processing.
- Implementing enterprise security controls including MFA (Microsoft Azure/Appian), SSL certificate management, FISMA compliance, and Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
- Directing Automated Testing suite development (Appian Selenium API / Jenkins CI/CD) and enforcing DevSecOps best practices across the team.
- Mentoring senior and intermediate developers; conducting code and UX reviews for Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and DOL policy compliance. Maintaining full technical lifecycle documentation (SSP, SIA, ICD, Data Dictionaries, ERDs, System Design Documents).
Requirements
Do you have experience in Software implementation?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in software architecture and development, with a minimum of five (5) years in Appian platform design and implementation.
- Experience implementing CI/CD and DevSecOps practices using GitLab and Jenkins. Experience in integrating with the Treasury Secure Payment System/Payment Automation Manager and debt management systems is highly preferred.
Certifications
- Appian Level 2 or higher certification
- Agile/SAFe certification or equivalent experience
Clearance/Background
- Public Trust, * providing Appian development solutions : 4 years (Required)
