Job description
Jefferson City School District is seeking a motivated and experienced Building Systems Specialist to join our facilities team. This position plays a critical role in the operation, maintenance, and performance of building systems across the district. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong background in HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS), a passion for energy efficiency, and solid computer skills for managing systems and data., * HVAC & BAS Management
- Monitor and manage Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure efficient HVAC operations.
- Schedule HVAC operations for special events, holidays, and after-hours activities.
- Identify, diagnose, and address deficiencies in HVAC systems to maintain optimal performance.
Inspections & Safety
- Conduct regular building inspections including elevators, fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, range hoods, gym and athletic equipment.
- Ensure all inspections meet safety and regulatory standards.
Collaboration & Energy Efficiency
- Work closely with district staff, vendors, and contractors to implement energy-saving initiatives and improve system efficiency.
- Support sustainability goals through proactive facilities management.
Seasonal Support
- Assist with snow and ice removal to ensure safe access to district facilities.
Other Duties as Assigned Including but Not Limited To
- Moving furniture, chairs, risers and other district resources as requested
- Maintaining District Resources (trucks, tools, etc.) in a serviceable and orderly fashion.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in HVAC systems and/or Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Working knowledge of electrical systems.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum of 2 years HVAC experience preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with BAS software, data management tools, and general office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Valid Class E Driver’s License (or ability to obtain).
- Must be a self-starter with strong time-management skills., * Certification in HVAC, BAS, or related technical field.
- Experience in school or institutional facility environments.
- Familiarity with energy management systems or sustainability practices.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in HVAC installation and service.
