Job description

  • Codebase Audit & De-duplication: Review the existing Next.js and FastAPI code to identify AI-generated redundancies, dead code, and inconsistent patterns.
  • Frontend Refactoring: Clean up our Next.js frontend, optimize component reusability, modularize ShadCN components, and streamline state management.
  • Backend Optimization: Standardize our FastAPI endpoints, ensure clean separation of concerns (routes, services, models), and optimize SQLAlchemy query performance.
  • AI-Workflow Standardization: Establish clean cursorrules or prompting guidelines to ensure future AI-assisted development remains clean, structured, and compliant with the new architecture.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside our DevOps and Security contractors to ensure the refactored code seamlessly integrates into our Coolify/Vercel pipelines and respects Supabase RLS policies.

Our Tech Stack

  • Frontend: Next.js (Tailwind CSS, ShadCN)
  • Backend: FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Alembic
  • Hosting/DB: Coolify, Vercel, Supabase (PostgreSQL)
  • Primary Dev Tools: Cursor, Claude 3.5 Sonnet

Requirements

Do you have experience in Web applications?, * Advanced AI-Assisted Dev Experience: Deep familiarity with Cursor and Claude workflows. You know how to leverage AI to code fast, but crucially, you know when and how to correct AI-generated architectural mistakes.

  • Expert Next.js & Python/FastAPI Knowledge:Proven track record of building, scaling, and refactoring production-grade web applications across this specific stack.
  • Master of Clean Code: Obsessive about DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) principles, modular architecture, and self-documenting code.
  • Pragmatic Mindset: Ability to make high-impact architectural improvements within a strict 4-hour weekly limit without over-engineering.
  • In-Person Interview: Must be available to complete the interview process in person at our corporate office.

Benefits & conditions

$25 - $30 an hour - Part-time, Contract

About the company

We are a fast-paced tech startup that has rapidly built out an impressive, feature-rich MVP using state-of-the-art AI development workflows (Cursor & Claude). Now, we are preparing for scale. As we transition from “speed-to-market” to “long-term stability,” we are looking for a sharp, systematic engineer to lead a comprehensive refactoring of our web application.

The Challenge

AI-generated code gets you to market at lightning speed, but it can often introduce hidden redundancies, fragmented state management, and structural clutter. We need a seasoned developer who understands how to audit, untangle, and optimize a code base built primarily via Cursor and Claude. You will ruthlessly eliminate technical debt, modularize components, and establish a clean, production-grade architecture. This will transition into a full-time role after we officially launch and find the right person for our company.
