Job description

As a Web Designer/Developer at WebMO, you will use your creative and programming skills to design, build, improve, and maintain websites that are user-friendly, easy to navigate, and adhere to our standards and best practices, while providing our clients with reasonable turnaround times and high-quality, well-designed websites., Every day at WebMO can be different and changes based on our clients’ needs and what projects you have in your pipeline.

Here’s what you might do on any given day:

  • Work with the Creative Director to design website prototypes in Figma
  • Create style sheets for clients based on color and typography best practices
  • Convert a Figma prototype into a custom WordPress theme
  • Implement feedback from clients and Creative Director
  • Work with the Design and Development teams on website QA, UX, and other site optimizations
  • Work on a variety of daily incoming front-end and back-end projects requested by our marketing team and/or clients., * Communicate with Creative Director and Account Managers to understand a client’s business, goals, branding, and effective design elements
  • Work in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop) and Figma
  • Curate quality and appropriate stock photography and videos from AdobeStock
  • Manage and update a personal queue of design and development projects
  • Coordinate finished designs with Creative Director, Account Managers, and Technical Services Manager
  • Complete various website development tasks as assigned by the Technical Services Manager
  • Common front-end projects may include:
  • Converting Figma mockups into fully functional front-end interfaces using clean, semantic PHP, HTML, and CSS
  • Adding content, updating layouts and making stylistic edits to existing websites
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining CMS platforms and their associated plugins or integrations
  • Identifying and implementing site performance optimizations
  • Implementing conversion tracking via Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • Common back-end projects may include:
  • Troubleshooting broken SSLs, DNS records, domain issues, hosting problems, and email delivery issues
  • Assisting with site host migrations

Requirements

Do you have experience in WordPress?, * Use your eye for design to create effective solutions for client needs

  • Enjoy a collaborative environment and share ideas with others
  • Are a creative problem-solver
  • Have a strong foundation in Figma
  • Have a mind for troubleshooting technical web problems
  • Have experience working in multiple CMS platforms, especially WordPress
  • Have a strong foundation in the fundamentals of HTML/CSS
  • Have a solid understanding of at least one object-oriented programming language
  • Have experience building and testing websites for mobile responsiveness
  • Have experience building sites that have client-friendly backends (Gutenberg, WP Bakery, Elementor, etc.)
  • Have experience managing domain registrar, DNS, and hosting accounts
  • Are an effective communicator (in person, over the phone/Zoom, and in writing)
  • Keep yourself organized
  • Obsess over the details
  • Prioritize your work so that you can meet or beat your deadlines
  • Are self-motivated and like autonomy
  • Value integrity

YOU’LL REALLY STAND OUT TO US IF YOU:

  • Are proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Have experience building WordPress custom themes from scratch
  • Understand how website technical performance relates to SEO
  • Have proficiency with PHP
  • Have experience modifying WordPress themes, child themes, and plugins
  • Have experience using Advanced Custom Fields
  • Have customer-facing experience
  • Have completed college or professional coursework in web design, computer science, marketing or a related subject, * Being around other self-motivated, bright, high-performers
