Job description
We are seeking a skilled Applications Engineer II to provide technical expertise supporting CNC machine applications, customer projects, and sales initiatives. In this role, you will work hands-on with advanced machining technologies, delivering solutions through demonstrations, process optimization, and turnkey engineering support.
This is a high-impact, customer-facing role ideal for professionals who enjoy solving complex manufacturing challenges and collaborating across engineering, sales, and customer teams.
What You Will Do
- Provide technical support to customers, sales teams, and trade show activities (on-site and remote)
- Conduct time studies, test cuts, and machine demonstrations based on customer requirements
- Design and build fixtures and workholding solutions for machining applications
- Develop and troubleshoot complex machining and manufacturing processes
- Create CNC programs using:
- Conversational programming
- Industry-standard CAM systems
- Direct G-Code / Macro programming
- Set up CNC machines, including 5-axis and mill-turn platforms
- Perform inspection of finished parts to ensure quality and precision
- Generate engineering studies, reports, and technical documentation
- Program and operate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) systems
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to assess technical requirements and deliver solutions
Requirements
Do you have experience in Microsoft Outlook?, * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent machining experience)
- 3+ years of relevant experience in CNC machining or applications engineering
- Strong knowledge of:
- CNC programming and setup
- Metal cutting and part processing
- Blueprint and drawing interpretation
- Basic understanding of metallurgy
- Experience with customer-facing technical communication
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and dynamic environments
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Exposure to manufacturing environments, including machinery, noise, and industrial equipment
- Frequent travel and physical activity (standing, bending, lifting, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Benefits & conditions
- Base Salary: Starting around $90,000-$110,000/Year (based on experience)
- Full-time, non-exempt position
- Core business hours with overtime as needed
- Travel requirement: 50% or more
