Design Engineer

Avantech is looking for a Design Engineer to join team and play a critical role in developing custom aluminum tooling solutions for the plastics industry.

In this position, you’ll work on a variety of exciting projects, designing rotational molds, thermoforming molds, blow molds, fixtures, and jigs that help bring customer products from concept to production. You’ll collaborate with manufacturing teams, support production launches, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design aluminum tooling for rotational molding, thermoforming, and blow molding applications.
• Design trim fixtures, cooling fixtures, jigs, and other production support tooling.
• Create detailed 3D models and engineering documentation using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Assist sales in generating tooling and production cost estimates.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production.
• Troubleshoot tooling and design-related issues during production and help drive solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
• Maintain compliance with ISO procedures and documentation requirements.
• Contribute to special projects and other engineering initiatives as needed.

Do you have experience in Organizational skills?, * Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD modeling software.

• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to coordinate efforts with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes preferred.
• Engineering degree preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field.
