Job description

In this position you will serve as a Flight Test Engineer in the Det 1, 413 FLTS testing as a professional test engineer and project test manager in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of HH-60W systems, components, and/or support equipment. The position is responsible for developing Test Plans, Safety Plans, Flight Test Cards, and execution of flight test. Engineering responsibility extends through development and final approval of test products, to execution, and to fielding and service use., * Serves as a ground and/or airborne test engineer, with major responsibilities in test planning, execution, and comprehensive reporting.

  • Creates, develops, and maintains essential test documentation, including test cards, Method of Test (MOT) plans, and final test reports.

  • Plans and conducts the collection and analysis of test data and information, researching issues to identify root causes and develop engineering solutions.

  • Leads and contributes to special projects, including developing written summaries and technical reports for higher-level engineers and customers.

  • Serves as a team member or leader on large, complex initiatives, utilizing engineering manuals and standard publications to analyze data and prepare reports.

  • Presents technical briefings and presentations on findings to senior officials to gain acceptance of proposed solutions and report on project status.

  • Maintains professional and technical currency by staying informed of emerging technologies and applying them to work assignments.

  • Utilizes computer software, including analysis tools and project tracking programs, to solve engineering problems and facilitate work.

  • Acts as a functional and technical expert, providing advice and assistance to others while guiding and motivating teams to focus on project goals.

  • Works with customers to define requirements, anticipates problems, and develops action plans to ensure mission accomplishment.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Project stakeholder communication?, * Ability to obtain the necessary clearances to fly as a passenger on military aircraft for test and evaluation missions desired, with 2 years of flight test experience

  • 2 years of experience in preparing technical reports and presenting briefings to diverse audiences desired

  • 2 years of experience in analyzing complex technical problems and developing innovative engineering solutions desire, * U.S. Citizenship
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
  • Obtain and maintain Top Security Clearance
  • Designated Drug Testing Position (Subject to pre-employment and random testing)
  • Must possess an engineering degree from an institution with an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements for an Test and Evaluation (T&E) Level 2 position
  • Must file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report annually
  • Travel may be required for temporary duty assignments (TDY), including the ability to obtain clearances to fly as a passenger on military aircraft
  • Knowledge of test engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, and methods to apply engineering theories to project development and execution
  • Knowledge of aircraft, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate highly complex weapon and/or aircraft systems
  • Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management, including standard acquisitions regulations and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, with peers, management, contractors, and other agencies.
