Job description

NVIDIA has been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for more than 25 years. It’s a unique legacy of innovation that’s fueled by great technology-and amazing people. Today, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Doing what’s never been done before takes vision, innovation, and the world’s best talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world.

NVIDIA has reinvented itself many times over several decades. We invented the GPU in 1999. This invention sparked PC gaming growth, changed computer graphics, and transformed parallel computing. Recently, GPU deep learning launched modern AI, starting a new computing era. NVIDIA constantly adapts to difficult challenges that only we can address and that impact the world. Our mission is to amplify human creativity and intelligence. NVIDIA is looking for an Orbital Datacenter System Architect to help define and build products for AI in orbit. This is an opportunity to join the leader in AI systems at the inception of a completely new industry.

What you will be doing:

  • Drive architecture for orbital datacenter systems considering everything from the chip out to the satellite and connectivity between satellites

  • Work with counterparts from silicon, software, networking, operations, and other teams to build a roadmap that guides development of future NVIDIA products for space

  • Analyze performance, power, and cost of different solutions to inform architectural decisions

  • Collaborate with NVIDIA’s key customers and system development partners to align on consistent strategies

  • Collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure industry roadmaps are aligned to NVIDIA needs

  • Work across engineering and operations teams to define systems from concept through large production deployments

  • Summarize and examine competitor solutions to keep track of industry developments and trends

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in related fields. MS or equivalent experience preferred

  • Deep understanding of hardware architecture and development of computing systems for space, including reliability, radiation tolerant strategies, environmental tolerances, and thermal solutions

  • 12+ years or more of experience in system architecture.

  • Hands-on experience with testing and validation for space systems

  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills with proven ability to lead multi-discipline teams

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience with large projects involving co-development of silicon, systems, and software

  • Familiarity with GPU compute and NVIDIA products

  • Experience solving mechanical challenges for rocket launches

  • Experience with beam testing and silicon features required for use in space

Benefits & conditions

With highly competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package, NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology industry’s most desirable employers. We have some of the most forward-thinking and hardworking people in the world working with us and our product lines are growing fast in some of the hottest state of the art fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Autonomous Vehicles, and Robotics. We have a real passion for perfection and for building products that excite the imagination.
