Job description
The Engagement Director will shape and lead complex transformation engagements from early solution design through implementation, adoption, and client acceptance.
We are looking for enterprise transformation leaders who can move across strategy, governance, stakeholder alignment, operating model, workforce transition, technology and AI adoption, communications, training, and program execution.
This is not a traditional advisory-only role, and it is not an OCM-only role. The strongest candidate will be capable of operating as:
- Engagement Director
- Solution architect
- Senior client advisor
- Hands-on engagement lead
- Program lead during the early stages of an engagement
- Reviewer and integrator of all client-facing work
- Manager and coach of the consultant team
Early in an engagement, you may simultaneously serve in several of these capacities. As the engagement grows, you will build and lead the broader team while remaining accountable for quality, client confidence, and results.
This is not a volume staffing model. Every NSP practitioner is selected intentionally, and every engagement leader plays a substantive role in moving the client’s work forward and are hands-on operators.
What You Will Do
- Lead complex transformation engagements - modernization, organizational change, operating-model design, workforce transition, governance, and program execution - from solution design through delivery and client acceptance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across federal agencies, public-sector institutions, and Fortune 500 and regulated enterprises.
- Architect the engagement - design the approach, workplan, deliverables, staffing model, schedule, and quality controls. Translate ambiguous priorities into structured strategies, governance models, and roadmaps that hold up under scrutiny.
- Establish governance structures - roles, decision rights, escalation paths, and operating cadences - that bring discipline without bureaucracy.
- Guide organizational change - leadership alignment, sponsorship, stakeholder engagement, workforce readiness, communications, training, and adoption - alongside the business or technical work.
- Own the overall health of the engagement - including client confidence, team performance, delivery quality, scope discipline, risk, and economics.
- Lead and coach managers, consultants, specialists, and subcontractors as one integrated NSP team.
- Produce executive-quality work - strategic plans, transformation roadmaps, governance models, assessments, briefings, and implementation deliverables - and review the work of others to the same standard.
- Help strengthen NSP’s delivery platform by mentoring practitioners, refining methods, and contributing to reusable approaches and intellectual property.
- Contribute selectively to proposal development, solution design, and oral presentations on pursuits aligned with your expertise, and support responsible account growth in partnership with NSP leadership., * Typically 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in management consulting, enterprise transformation, organizational change, operating-model design, program leadership, workforce transformation, or a closely related field., * Have you held a Director, Senior Director, Senior Manager, Principal, Managing Director, Partner, or equivalent leadership role?
- Have you personally led a complex client engagement from solution design and executive alignment through delivery and client acceptance?

About NSP & Company
NSP & Company exists for the part of transformation that decks do not solve.
We are a strategy execution and transformation advisory firm serving federal agencies, public-sector institutions, and Fortune 500 and regulated enterprises through the highest-stakes change in their portfolios - modernization and AI adoption, restructuring, workforce shifts, and operating-model redesign.
We were founded on a simple conviction: strong strategy is not enough. Transformation succeeds when leaders are aligned, governance supports timely decisions, people understand what is changing, and execution gains enough momentum to sustain the result. Most firms write the strategy and move on. NSP stays through the work it takes to make the change hold.
Where Our Work Sits
NSP operates with the agility and low bureaucracy of a boutique while maintaining the rigor, discipline, and quality expected in complex federal and enterprise environments. Our senior-practitioner model gives leaders meaningful influence over the work, direct access to decision-makers, and the opportunity to build., NSP is built for leaders who are done choosing between strategic influence and meaningful execution.
The strongest NSP leaders combine strategic depth with practical execution. They bring structure to ambiguity, advise confidently without ego, care deeply about client outcomes and work-product quality, and remain close to the work. They communicate clearly with executives and delivery teams, raise problems early, and develop the people around them.
If you want to contribute to building a distinctive consulting firm - and you are ready to invest in NSP as a shared platform - you may find the professional platform, and community of peers, you have been looking for. This opportunity is best suited to leaders who are prepared to represent one integrated NSP team in the market and with clients.
