Job description

KCI is seeking a talented and driven Fortinet Firewall Engineer to become an integral part of our Managed Services Design and Installation team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, configuring, and maintaining environments utilizing the Fortinet ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will possess advanced Engineering capabilities, excellent communication skills, a process-improvement mindset, and experience working within the telecommunications and/or managed services industry. This position requires a hands-on Engineer who can balance operational oversight, customer interaction, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

This is a salaried position and require work beyond standard business hours, including evenings and weekends as needed to support operations and customer requirements.

Technical Environment

Our core product centers heavily around the Fortinet ecosystem. You will regularly interact with:

· FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Fortiswitches, and FortiAP’s (FortiLink deployments)

· FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer for centralized management and analytics, and Forticloud

· Advanced routing, SD-WAN, and high-availability (HA) configurations

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Architecture: Lead the high-level design and engineering of complex multi-tenant or enterprise-scale Fortinet environments, including SD-WAN topologies.

· Strategic Migrations: Own the planning and execution of legacy-to-Fortinet migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless policy transitions.

· Team Mentorship: Provide technical leadership, mentor junior/mid-level engineering staff, and help establish standardized engineering workflows.

  • Assist with resource planning, scheduling, and workload management for engineering staff
  • Maintain awareness of current telecommunications and managed services technologies and industry trends

Requirements

Do you have experience in Security technology solutions implementations?, Previous Tier 2 or Tier 3 experience with Fortinet

  • Experience within the telecommunications, networking, or managed services provider (MSP) industry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience analyzing data and implementing process improvements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer-focused mindset with professional client interaction skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enterprise telecom experience
  • Advanced understanding of data networking concepts and infrastructure
  • Familiarity with:

o Routers

o Firewalls

o Network switches
