Job description

Caterpillar is seeking an experienced IT Software Engineer 3 to join a fast-paced development team supporting a high-impact AI initiative. This role will focus on building modern web applications and integrating with API and AI-driven orchestration platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong TypeScript/React developer who thrives in agile environments and can contribute both technically and as a mentor to other engineers., * Design, develop, and implement scalable software applications using modern web technologies

Build and enhance front-end architecture using React, TypeScript, and related frameworks
Develop and maintain progressive web applications (PWA) integrated with backend APIs and AI systems
Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to existing codebases
Perform automated testing, debugging, and ongoing application maintenance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and optimize workflows
Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical best practices, * Building modern UI experiences and integrating with API and AI orchestration layers
Collaborating with a small, senior team (2 Senior Engineers + 1 Principal)

Requirements

Do you have experience in TypeScript?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

5-7+ years of experience in software development
Strong hands-on experience with:
React 19 and TypeScript 5
Vite 6 and TailwindCSS 4
TanStack (Router + Query)
Zustand
Web Components (Lit 3)
Experience working in Agile development environments
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team setting

Preferred / Nice to Have

Node.js development experience
Familiarity with NGINX and Redux
Experience with GitHub and CI/CD workflows
Docker and containerized application deployment, * Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Self-starter with high accountability
Adaptability and growth mindset
