Software Engineer Lvl 3 - Adv Software & Platform Engineering

The Software Engineer Level 3 designs, develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems supporting mission critical operations. This senior role leads software development efforts, integrates software into diverse operating environments, collaborates with system engineers, oversees development teams, and ensures software meets strict performance, reliability, and functional standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements and derive detailed software performance and design requirements
• Design, code, modify, and integrate software components, including high performance algorithms
• Debug and enhance existing software to improve performance and reliability
• Develop and execute testing procedures; perform software quality control
• Integrate software into new or modified systems and environments
• Develop and implement complex data interfaces and queries
• Write and review technical software documentation
• Lead one or more development teams and ensure adherence to approved development processes
• Develop algorithms requiring strict timing or resource constraints
• Collaborate with system/hardware engineers to derive requirements and clarify system limitations
• Recommend new technologies, tools, and processes for complex software projects
• Ensure quality control across all developed or modified software
• Oversee team tasking, performance, and coordination during project execution
• Support installation, integration, and operational validation of software systems

• Hands on experience operating or performing platform engineering on production grade Kubernetes clusters
• Strong understanding of containerization, including pod security standards
• Working knowledge of PKI certificates and PKI lifecycle management
• Experience supporting GitOps development models and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Python and Bash scripting
• Basic Linux administration experience
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for tasking, tracking, and documentation
• Ability to design and implement data interfaces, execute queries, and work with software repositories
• Ability to develop high performance algorithms and optimize software systems
• Strong communication skills for presentations, documentation, and technical coordination, * Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph - no exceptions
• 20 years of Software Engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• Four (4) additional years of SWE experience may be substituted for a degree
• Must have one IAT Level II certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND,SSCP)
