Job description

The primary responsibility for this position is teaching one to three sections of introductory IT courses per semester, covering foundational topics such as computer hardware, operating systems, file management, productivity software, basic networking concepts, and IT troubleshooting. Courses typically include both a lecture component and hands-on lab time to reinforce applied learning, consistent with the SUNY Morrisville educational model.

Adjunct instructors are expected to maintain regular communication with students, provide timely feedback on coursework, submit grades by established deadlines, and coordinate with the department regarding course materials and lab access. Participation in end-of-semester program assessment activities may be requested.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will demonstrate experience or knowledge in several of the following areas:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, OR equivalent professional IT experience in lieu of a degree. Practical experience supporting end users, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and working with common desktop operating systems (Windows, macOS, and/or Linux) Familiarity with computer security concepts including privacy, phishing, and responsible digital citizenship Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 productivity tools and the ability to support students in their use Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience is preferred but not required; a commitment to student success and clear communication is essential

Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Google IT Support, or Microsoft Fundamentals are a plus
