Job description

The Design Engineer Staff supports the CIS Engineering Design team by developing detailed engineering installation design packages for complex critical infrastructure systems. This role contributes to project execution from concept through installation and testing while collaborating with internal engineering teams, project managers, vendors, and customers across secure and mission critical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Development of Engineering Installation Design Packages including Block Diagrams, Riser Diagrams, Mounting Details, and Wiring Details using AutoCADCreate project specific drawings, device schedules, and engineering documentation as part of complete CIS design packages

  • Develop cable schedules, device schedules, and Performance Verification Test PlansSupport bids and proposals by assisting with technical design concepts, take offs, and engineering narratives to capture new CIS work

  • Participate in site surveys during all phases of CIS projects to validate design requirements and field conditions

  • Participate in Pre Installation Testing and Checkout processes including system programming support, integration testing, and equipment build outs

  • Assist with engineering calculations including power, heat load, voltage drop, conduit szing, grounding, and network bandwidth

  • Support development of sequences of operations, compliance matrices, basis of design documents, and other project support deliverables

  • Develop a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, UL 294, UL 1076, UL 2050, ICD 705, and NISPOM

  • Participate in new product evaluations, technology assessments, and recommendations for CIS systems

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by researching technical questions and suggesting design or process enhancements

  • This position may rotate through various CIS and M.C. Dean engineering functions to gain exposure to company processes, standards, and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field

  • Two (2)+ years of experience in engineering, with preferred experience in design build or integrated systems environments

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, collaborative engineering environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and internal project teams

  • Experience supporting or leading large scale engineering designs is preferred

  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and related engineering design tools

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.

  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
