Job description
We are seeking a junior level Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City Beach, FL. The Cybersecurity Specialist plays a vital role in supporting DoD customers by providing support to the ISSM for tasks such as developing and maintaining cybersecurity procedures, conducting control evaluations, performing network vulnerability assessments, and preparing and maintaining Risk Management Framework (RMF) system artifacts. This position requires a basic understanding of underlying cybersecurity principles including vulnerability management, risk assessment and system documentation. The Cybersecurity Specialist will be responsible for supporting the validation of Navy information systems to ensure compliance with DoD and Navy cybersecurity frameworks. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of cybersecurity strategies, analyzing vulnerabilities, and recommending mitigation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Support the ISSM in developing and updating cybersecurity procedures across various projects
Conduct network security assessments and recommend mitigative actions
Support the ISSM’s effort to produce RMF documentation/artifacts
Support the ISSM’s effort to manage RMF packages in eMASS
Ensure DISA STIGs compliance and security measures implementation
Monitor cybersecurity trends and maintain security protocols
Requirements
Do you have experience in Vulnerability management?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, Basic understanding of underlying cybersecurity principles
Basic understanding of vulnerability management
Basic understanding of RMF steps and processes
Ability to utilize tools like Visio, Excel and others to create and maintain system documentation and artifacts
Strong documentation and communication skills
Security+ Certification (Required for IAT Level II positions)
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced industry certifications such as: ISC2 CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), GIAC Security Certifications, ISACA CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), and/or CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner)
Experience in cybersecurity for DoD networks and architectures in tactical environments with experience in obtaining and maintaining Authority to Operate for Military platforms and systems
Navy Qualified Validator (NQV) Level II or III
Required Education and Length of Experience
Associate’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field; applicable technical certification(s) may be considered in lieu of degree
0 -2 years of experience
Travel Requirements
Travel up to 10% may be required.
U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to our contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to maintain an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain up to TS/SCI, if required by the position.
