Job description

We are seeking an experienced Front End Web Designer/Developer to join the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). This role will support the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise web applications and websites used across NCDOT and NCDMV.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating modern, accessible user interfaces and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver consistent user experiences across enterprise platforms.

This is a hybrid position located in Raleigh, NC. Candidates must currently reside in the Triangle area of North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive web interfaces
  • Build reusable UI components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js
  • Create and maintain UI prototypes and component libraries
  • Ensure applications meet WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
  • Optimize web applications for performance and usability
  • Collaborate with UX designers, developers, and business stakeholders
  • Support enterprise applications including SharePoint, ServiceNow, SAP, and Drupal
  • Perform accessibility testing and remediation
  • Deliver training sessions and demonstrations for business users

Requirements

  • 5+ years of JavaScript development
  • 5+ years of TypeScript
  • 3+ years of Vue.js
  • 5+ years of HTML5 and modern CSS
  • Experience with Flexbox, CSS Grid, variables, and responsive design
  • Strong understanding of semantic HTML
  • Experience implementing WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
  • Accessibility testing experience
  • Experience with reactive state management (signals, Pinia, Vuex, or similar)
  • Web performance optimization experience
  • UX/UI design experience
  • Experience integrating enterprise platforms such as:
  • SharePoint
  • ServiceNow
  • SAP
  • Drupal
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Vite

  • Previous State or Federal Government experience
