Job description

A client of Insight Global in the retail & technology industry is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to support a growing business group of senior team members to transform data into actionable insights that support business decisions across the organization. The daily duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries for data extraction and analysis

  • Create data visualizations and dashboards using tools like Tableau, QuickSight, or PowerBI

  • Build basic ETL processes and data pipelines under guidance

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements

  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies

  • Automate recurring reports to improve efficiency

  • Ensure data quality and accuracy in reporting

  • Document technical processes and data definitions

  • Support ad-hoc analysis requests from business partners

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of professional experience as a Business Intelligence Engineer

  • Expert-level SQL skills including complex queries, joins, subqueries, window functions, and query optimization

  • Familiarity with statistical concepts and methods

  • Basic understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline architecture

  • Experience with Python or R or Similar Code Language for data analysis including data manipulation, statistical analysis, and automation

  • Experience with at least one data visualization tool (Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, PowerBI, or similar)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related quantitative field such as math/statistics, computer science or a related field

  • Exposure to cloud computing platforms (AWS preferred)

  • SAS experience
