API Integration Architect (Mainframe Modernization & Enterprise Integration)

• Define the overall API architecture and integration strategy for MACSS API enablement

• Analyze existing MACSS interfaces, conversations, and services to: o Identify reuse opportunities o Avoid duplication of functionality

• Make architectural decisions on whether requirements should result in: o Reuse of existing interfaces/services o Extension of existing APIs o Development of new APIs

• Define how extracted mainframe business logic is exposed through APIs in a clean and consistent way
• Provide architecture for handling embedded and tightly coupled business logic in legacy MACSS programs
• Define integration patterns for z/OS / COBOL systems, including transaction handling, session management, and data transformation
• Guide teams in structuring APIs to support existing use cases across multiple releases efficiently

• Deep expertise in API architecture & design and integration patterns
• Strong experience with mainframe systems (z/OS / COBOL) and legacy integration

• Proven ability to analyze existing interfaces/services and define reuse vs new build strategy

• Interface Analysis & Reuse Strategy o Hands-on experience in:

• Analyzing existing interfaces/services
• Building service inventory/catalog

• Defining reuse vs new build decisions o Ability to create reuse frameworks and API grouping strategies

• DevOps & Delivery

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in utility, customer care, or billing systems
• Exposure to MACSS or similar conversation-based mainframe systems
• Experience with API gateways, middleware platforms, and enterprise integration tools
