Job description

The Vice President of Information Technology provides strategic and operational leadership for the credit union’s technology environment, cybersecurity program, and IT infrastructure. This role partners with executive leadership to ensure technology solutions support organizational growth, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional member experience.

The VP of Information Technology is responsible for the overall management, security, and reliability of the organization’s technology systems and leads the IT department in supporting both daily operations and long-term strategic initiatives.

This position oversees the Information Technology department and works closely with executive leadership and department managers across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and adaptable technology leader who can effectively operate within a highly regulated and security-conscious environment while supporting the organization’s operational and strategic goals.

Strategic Leadership & Planning

· Develop and implement short- and long-term IT strategies aligned with organizational goals.

· Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve operational efficiency and member experience.

· Collaborate with executive leadership on technology initiatives, budgeting, and strategic planning.

· Establish department goals, metrics, and performance standards.

IT Infrastructure & Operations

· Oversee the secure and efficient operation of all systems, networks, hardware, software, and telecommunications.

· Manage installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT systems and infrastructure.

· Ensure system reliability, uptime, and operational continuity.

· Provide leadership and guidance for complex technical solutions and escalated issues.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

· Lead cybersecurity initiatives and maintain security policies, procedures, and controls.

· Monitor, identify, and mitigate cybersecurity risks and emerging threats.

· Maintain access controls, system hardening standards, antivirus protections, firewalls, and endpoint security.

· Oversee risk assessments, incident response, and remediation efforts.

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

· Develop, maintain, and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

· Ensure backup systems and recovery procedures are effective and regularly validated.

· Partner with department leaders on business impact analyses and recovery readiness.

Compliance & Governance

· Ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations, including NCUA, GLBA, FFIEC, and other regulatory guidance.

· Support internal and external IT audits and examinations.

· Develop, maintain, and update IT policies, procedures, and documentation.

· Ensure operational manuals and system documentation remain current and accurate.

Vendor & Project Management

· Manage relationships with IT vendors, consultants, and service providers.

· Negotiate contracts, maintenance agreements, and technology purchases.

· Lead and coordinate technology projects from planning through implementation.

· Monitor project timelines, costs, and outcomes.

Leadership & Communication

· Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff.

· Translate technical concepts into business-focused communication for leadership and staff.

· Provide regular reporting on IT operations, security, projects, and risks to executive leadership and/or the Board.

· Promote collaboration between IT and other departments throughout the organization.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Vendor relationship management?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, · Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years of progressive IT leadership experience.

· Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration.

· Experience managing vendors, technology projects, and IT budgets.

· Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within a financial institution environment preferred.

· Experience working within highly regulated, security-focused environments with strong internal controls preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in the financial services or credit union industry.

· Cybersecurity and/or risk management experience.

· Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, or similar certifications are a plus.
