Job description

Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Enhance existing applications and support modernization initiatives
Write and optimize DB2 SQL queries and stored procedures
Develop and maintain batch processes using JCL
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including performance tuning and debugging
Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and infrastructure teams
Support system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment activities
Document technical designs, processes, and system changes

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years (or adjust as needed) of hands-on mainframe development experience
Strong proficiency in:
COBOL programming
CICS online transaction processing
DB2 (SQL development, performance tuning)
JCL (Job Control Language)

Experience with mainframe debugging and testing tools

Solid understanding of batch and online processing environments

Familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile or Waterfall)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
