Job description

Join an enterprise IT team as a Senior VDI Administrator responsible for the evaluation, design, and daily operations of a large-scale virtual desktop and Windows server environment. You will serve as a hands-on expert who translates complex requirements into secure, reliable, and efficient solutions, ensuring high availability and strong compliance standards., * Design, implement, and document processes for performance monitoring, troubleshooting/helpdesk response, capacity planning, configuration standards, 24/7 support/escalation models, IMAC services, and change management.

  • Create and maintain system/application diagrams and workflows.
  • Drive incident diagnosis, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
  • Lead vulnerability management plus monthly system patching and maintenance.
  • Oversee configuration, testing, installation, modification, and servicing of server components and applications.
  • Independently prioritize work based on criticality and departmental priorities.
  • Manage vendor relationships for evaluation, procurement, and maintenance of infrastructure components.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and collaborate with Cloud Operations, Cyber Security, and Systems Administration teams.
  • Plan, lead, and perform comprehensive systems analysis and design for new infrastructure solutions.
  • Maintain a strong focus on end-user satisfaction and reliability.

Requirements

  • 5 years in enterprise Systems Administration or Cloud Administration.
  • Expert-level VDI experience with Citrix and/or Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
  • Senior-level Windows administration: Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and vulnerability management/patching.
  • Ability to be onsite in Herndon, VA, 3 days/week and commute from within 30 miles (no travel reimbursement).
  • Ability to operate within environments requiring strong security and encryption standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications: MCSE, MCITP, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-303/304).
  • Experience integrating SIEM tools, backups, and monitoring solutions.
  • Knowledge of security best practices (e.g., NIST 800-53).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated pipelines, orchestration, and configuration management.

Work Environment

  • Enterprise-scale infrastructure with high availability expectations.
  • May require occasional off-hours maintenance and participation in escalation/support rotations.
