Job description

As the Senior UX Designer for Clinical Solutions Japan, you will own end-to-end UX across discovery, problem framing, UX research, UI design, usability testing, and implementation support.

You will work closely with the Product Manager, Engineering, business stakeholders, and APAC teams to translate user needs and business context into accessible, implementation-ready product experiences.

As Japan products continue to align with the global platform, this role will help understand users in Japan, validate product and design direction, and communicate Japan insights to regional and global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead UX activities for Japan initiatives, including discovery, problem framing, research, UI design, usability testing, and implementation support.
  • Conduct UX research and validation suited to the Japan context, such as exploratory research, user interviews, concept validation, and usability testing.
  • Synthesize user needs in Japan, business context, and product constraints into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Use problem-framing and prioritization methods, including Jobs-to-be-done, to clarify user needs, identify high-value problems, and guide product/design decisions.
  • Partner with the PdM, Engineering, and business stakeholders to shape solutions and align on trade-offs.
  • Create implementation-ready artifacts, including user flows, prototypes, interaction specifications, design patterns, and UI designs.

Requirements

  • End-to-end UX experience across discovery, problem framing, research, interaction design, UI design, prototyping, usability testing, and implementation support.
  • Ability to work independently as the primary UX designer for Japan while collaborating with distributed teams.
  • Ability to use Jobs-to-be-done and other problem-framing methods to connect user needs, business priorities, and product opportunities.
  • Understanding of front-end development, product architecture, accessibility requirements, and technical constraints.
  • Understanding of research ethics and privacy when handling user research data.
  • Proficiency with Figma. Experience with prototyping or AI-assisted design tools, such as Figma Make, is a plus.
  • Fluent Japanese proficiency for user research, stakeholder communication, and UI/content review.
  • Business English proficiency for APAC and global collaboration.

Nice to have skills

  • Background in B2B, healthcare, clinical, or enterprise products.
  • Familiarity with platform migration.
  • Experience working in a distributed, cross-regional product organization.
  • Ability to use analytics, customer feedback, or product data to support design decisions. Advanced data analysis skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with design systems and reusable UI patterns.

Benefits & conditions

We promote a healthy work/life balance across the organisation. We offer an appealing working prospect for our people. With numerous wellbeing initiatives, shared parental leave, study assistance and sabbaticals, we will help you meet your immediate responsibilities and your long-term goals.

  • Working flexible hours - flexing the times when you work in the day to help you fit everything in and work when you are the most productive
