Job description

  • Lead the architecture, design, and governance of enterprise-scale AWS cloud solutions supporting mission-critical Federal applications.
  • Define cloud strategy, reference architectures, technology roadmaps, and target-state architectures aligned with business and federal compliance requirements.
  • Design highly available, fault-tolerant, secure, and resilient multi-account, multi-region AWS environments using AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and Landing Zones.
  • Architect cloud-native solutions leveraging microservices, event-driven architectures, serverless computing, containers (EKS/ECS), and API-driven integrations.
  • Lead application modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy monolithic applications to cloud-native architectures using AWS best practices.
  • Design enterprise networking architectures including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, PrivateLink, Route 53, CloudFront, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Define enterprise security architecture incorporating IAM, Zero Trust principles, encryption, key management, identity federation, secrets management, network segmentation, and security monitoring.
  • Develop scalable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks using CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and Terraform to standardize cloud provisioning and governance.
  • Establish enterprise governance, cloud operating models, guardrails, tagging strategies, cost optimization, FinOps, and resource lifecycle management across multiple AWS accounts.
  • Design disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and high availability solutions that meet Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) requirements.
  • Architect enterprise data platforms utilizing AWS data, analytics, and streaming services to support real-time and batch processing workloads.
  • Evaluate emerging AWS services and recommend architecture patterns that improve scalability, security, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and cloud readiness assessments while ensuring alignment with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural governance across cross-functional teams including application development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, networking, and operations.
  • Establish enterprise observability strategies using centralized logging, distributed tracing, monitoring, and operational dashboards.
  • Drive DevSecOps adoption by integrating security controls, compliance validation, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD pipelines throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Produce high-level and low-level architecture documents, solution design documents, network diagrams, security models, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Serve as the primary technical advisor to client stakeholders, presenting architecture recommendations, trade-off analyses, risk assessments, and executive-level solution presentations.
  • Ensure all cloud architectures comply with Federal security and compliance standards including NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, and Zero Trust Architecture principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of IT experience with 7+ years of hands-on AWS architecture and cloud engineering.
  • Experience leading enterprise cloud transformation and modernization projects.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
