In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and plant teams to help protect industrial control systems, maintain accurate documentation, support compliance efforts, and strengthen cybersecurity practices across Associated Electric Cooperative’s generating assets.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a foundation in cybersecurity, networking, engineering, instrumentation and controls, or power generation who is ready to grow in the industrial cybersecurity field. You will gain hands-on experience supporting critical systems in a highly reliable, safety-focused utility environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support cybersecurity reviews of power plant control systems, including industrial control systems, distributed control systems, networked assets, and related plant technologies.

  • Assist with maintaining control system network diagrams, asset inventories, configuration records, modernization documentation, and cybersecurity program information for generating assets.

  • Help implement and maintain cybersecurity practices, procedures, and frameworks that support risk management, asset protection, and compliance requirements.

  • Participate in periodic cybersecurity assessments at plant locations and assist with identifying opportunities to improve the maturity of the ICS cybersecurity program.

  • Provide support for critical systems by helping troubleshoot issues, research new technologies, document changes, and coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, and plant operations teams.

  • Assist with control system modernization projects by supporting documentation, cybersecurity planning, system reviews, and integration of security measures into plant operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, industrial technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity, networking, computer systems, or industrial control systems.

  • Ability to learn power plant control systems, operational technology, and cybersecurity practices in a utility or industrial environment.

  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office products.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation, follow procedures, and support compliance-related activities.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with a willingness to work with plant, engineering, and cybersecurity teams.

Benefits & conditions

  • We are committed to rewarding talent with top pay. Your efforts will be recognized with a total compensation package that reflects your experience and contributions.

  • Plan for your future with confidence! We offer a robust 401(k) program with a generous employer match to help you build the financial future you deserve.

  • We know how important work-life integration is. Recharge with PTO and enjoy paid holidays, ensuring you have time to unwind and pursue your passions outside of work.
