Data Protection & AI Business Partner4 Month ContractRemote - UK BasedRate: £450- £500 per day (Inside IR35)We are looking for an experienced Data Protection & AI Governance Consultant to support a well-established UK technology organisation on an initial 4 month contract.This is a remote role, working as part of a small data protection and AI governance team. The successful candidate will help operationalise privacy and responsible AI frameworks across products, services, suppliers and internal business processes.The role would suit someone with strong hands-on data protection advisory experience, ideally gained within a software, SaaS, technology or product-led environment.The RoleWorking closely with the permanent Data Protection and AI Governance team, you will be responsible for:Leading supplier reviews for AI systems and privacy, including reviewing contractual and technical controlsSupporting supplier assurance activity and signing off outcomes within agreed thresholdsWorking

Requirements

with business stakeholders to identify and close gaps in Article 30 records/documentationLeading DPIAs, LIAs and AI impact assessmentsReviewing low to medium risk data protection and AI use cases, recommending mitigations and go-live readiness measuresProviding pragmatic, solution-focused advice on privacy law, governance frameworks and internal policiesSupporting the wider compliance function with data protection, AI governance and related compliance projectsHelping to embed responsible AI and privacy-by-design principles across products, services and business processesKey Skills and ExperienceSignificant experience in data protection advisory and privacy governance rolesStrong knowledge of GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR and privacy governance frameworksExperience of DPIAs, LIAs, Article 30 documentation and supplier privacy reviewsWorking knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI principles and AI risk assessmentAbility to operationalise governance frameworks and drive adoption across a businessStrong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to advise product, engineering, technology, legal, security and operational teamsComfortable balancing regulatory risk with commercial and innovation-led prioritiesStrong attention to detail and the ability to provide clear, practical recommendationsExperience working in a software house, SaaS provider or technology-led organisation would be highly desirableQualificationsCIPP/E is strongly preferredCIPM would also be beneficialCIPT, ISO 27701, ISO/NIST AI governance or related AI governance training would be advantageous
