Job description

The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking a \nTelecommunications Engineering Technician to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group located across the United States. Work location will be in Oakland, CA. \n \n The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the FAA Enterprise Network Services Program. The program aims to design, build, operate, and maintain the FAA’s next-generation communications platform and to build a dynamic, highly available and secure enterprise network to support all the agency’s mission-critical applications across the NAS. \n \n \nTelecommunications Engineering Technician \nJob Duties Include: \n \n \n

  • Review FAA data bases and provide input and or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR). \n
  • Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports. \n
  • Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel. \n
  • Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP). \n
  • Generate and/or update drawings, sketches, and artifacts. \n
  • Draft project plans for site preparation activities. \n
  • Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic and Operations personnel. \n
  • Develop transition plans. \n
  • Resolve schedule conflicts. \n
  • Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities. \n
  • Work with LECs on schedules. \n
  • Develop briefings/information/reports on District status. \n
  • Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc. \n
  • Support District POC and SSCs with day-to-day work activities. \n
  • Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP). \n

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree. Additional experience may be substituted/considered/accepted in lieu of degree. \n
  • Ability to travel 75% \n
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years of the past 5 years consecutively with no breaks). \n
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suites. \n, * 2+ years of experience working with Telco systems performing Network Troubleshooting. \n
  • Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar tools. \n
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Assoc (NFPA) standards, National Airspace System Equipment Tower. \n
  • Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards. \n
  • Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG. \n
