Job description

What does a Java developer - manufacturing applications (IT technology engineer) do at the Atlas Copco Group in Wilrijk? As a Java developer - manufacturing applications, you will join the Portable Air Application Development Team to design, develop, deploy, and support software solutions (WMS/APS/PLE) used by production facilities worldwide. In this role, you will take ownership of the full application lifecycle, translating complex functional requirements into robust, scalable technical designs. You will build new features, modernize legacy systems, and deploy applications to virtual machines or Microsoft Azure cloud environments. Acting as the technical application owner, you will execute technical validations, manage stable releases, and provide advanced second- and third-line troubleshooting. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with the Business Process Organization, key users, and international IT teams, while handling essential maintenance, patching, and technical documentation to ensure future-proof manufacturing operations.

In this role, you will report to the application development team leader and work via a hybrid model at our facility in Wilrijk.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Warehouse management system?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, * Master’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent advanced ICT/Software Engineering field

  • Proven professional experience in Java development with a strong track record in structured development lifecycles
  • Professional fluency in both Dutch and English (spoken and written) to collaborate within local and global teams
  • Experience or strong interest in cloud services, deployments, and monitoring within Microsoft Azure environments
  • Prior exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or front-end frameworks like Angular and Vaadin is a major asset
