Job description

You’ll work on our most challenging design problems, help others improve their designs by expanding and enhancing our in house design system, and consult on bespoke design work needed by product engineers.

Redesigned our mobile web app by talking with customers, wireframing new flows, implementing our design system, and turning wireframes into a polished UI. Built a set of flexible, composable components in our design system that allow other engineers to build beautiful, consistent setup wizards. Helped a Product Engineer improve the information hierarchy and scannability of their design for viewing a candidate’s assessments, enabling recruiters to quickly parse information.

Product Context At Ashby, we serve over 100,000 weekly active users and millions of candidates per week, with notable customers such as Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake. Our product helps recruiting teams schedule candidates, track interview preparation, and automate tasks that traditionally required manual effort. Levels & Experience

Requirements

Junior Design Engineer - up to 2 years of industry experience as a designer or engineer, with projects that showcase visual taste and emerging skills in both UI/UX and engineering. Design Engineer - 2+ years of continuous experience as an engineer or designer, proficient in both disciplines, with experience shipping code to hundreds of users. Staff Design Engineer - significant contributions to a design system and the design and implementation of features for hundreds of users with iterative user feedback.

Technical Stack TypeScript (frontend & backend), React, GraphQL, Node.js, Postgres, and Redis. Minimum proficiency in TypeScript, React, and CSS is required; backend proficiency is a plus.

Benefits & conditions

Competitive salary and equity. 10 year exercise window for stock options. Unlimited PTO. 12 weeks fully paid parental leave (longer in some regions). Generous equipment and software budget. £100/month education budget. Full health coverage for US employees and supplemental coverage abroad, with 100% premiums covered.

Compensation Range: £138K - £224K Ashby provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
