Job description

GStek is seeking qualified applicants for full-time Telecommunications Technician (Lineman) opening to provide support at our Redstone Arsenal, AL location., * Repair and maintain ISP cable facilities including switches, servers, and associated cabling.

  • Assure dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone communications by proactively identifying problems.
  • Identify problems by using electronic testing equipment. OSP:

  • Repair and maintain OSP cable facilities including poles, underground services, and conduit.
  • Test and monitor confined space air quality per OSHA regulations.
  • Inspect, pump excess water, clean out debris, make minor repairs and maintain manholes.
  • Maintain and repair/replace cable related defects.
  • Lift and load equipment and material that may weigh more than 50 pounds.
  • Assure dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone communications by proactively identifying problems by using electronic testing equipment.
  • Telecom cable locating and marking.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb.
  • Lift and move items over 50 pounds.
  • Vision: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Drive from work site to work site.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active/recent Secret U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Minimum of 3 years OSP/ISP cable maintenance experience.
  • Strong background in Telephony Inside Plant service to include maintenance and service of associated switches, servers, and peripheral components, copper and fiber optic cable installation, maintenance.
  • Maintenance hole experience (OSHA confined space familiarization).
  • Cable locating experience.
  • Experience in fault locating.

Highly Desired:

  • CompTIA Security+
  • VOIP experience.
  • IAT Level II certifications.
