Job description
The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Architect is responsible for implementing and managing the EDI platform for the company’s EDI operations for our 3PL distribution, Order To Cash and Revenue Management business unit(s). This role involves creating and managing EDI workflows in such a way that the rest of the EDI team can easily use the system to implement trading partner connections. The EDI architect will design business processes, manage and update existing ones, create documentations and facilitate implementation of new trading partners. This person will also be tasked to solve all technical challenges on the EDI platform that surpasses all other team members., Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams. These results are achieved by:
- Design, manage and upgrade EDI systems making trading partner implementation seamless to the rest of the EDI team.
- Monitor and analyze EDI system to ensure efficiency and adherence to company requirements.
- Help define the overall B2B technical integration strategy and roadmap, including designing high-availability environments and planning migrations (e.g., from on-premise to cloud/containers).
- Configure and maintain EDI connections with trading partners, including AS2, SFTP, VANs (Value Added Networks) and other connections.
- Lead the development of complex maps (using Sterling Map Editor) and Business Processes (BPML) to automate data transformation across formats like X12, EDIFACT, XML, and JSON.
- Create business processes that ensures sufficient and efficient archiving,
- Provide technical support to internal users on EDI-related issues.
- Maintain documentation of EDI processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Stay current on EDI standards, best practices, and industry trends.
- Participate in EDI projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and process improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Sales, Purchasing, and Logistics.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB:

Requirements
Do you have experience in X12 EDI?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of EDI standards (e.g., X12, EDIFACT), and expert knowledge of IBM B2Bi Sterling Integrator mapping tools, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in B2B integration and EDI, with at least 5 years in an Architect, Technical Lead, or equivalent senior design role.
- Expert understanding of IBM Sterling B2BI.
- Design and implement complex, optimized BPML (Business Process Modeling Language) for enterprise-level workflows
- Expertise in creating, maintaining, and performance-tuning all versions of EDI maps using the Sterling Map Editor
- Platform Management: Proven ability to install, configure, manage, and tune multi-node B2BI instances across various operating systems (Unix/Linux and Windows)
- Strong knowledge of compatibility matrices between different database versions, operating systems, and B2BI releases.
- Expert-level understanding of the underlying B2BI database structure and data models.
- Strong understanding of EDI standards (e.g., X12, EDIFACT).
- Knowledge of VANs (Value Added Networks) and EDI communication protocols.
- Proven track record of providing Level 3 technical leadership for critical production issues and mentoring junior EDI developers and analysts.
- Experience with modern DevOps practices, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)., * 3PL experience and/or 3PL experience in Pharmaceutical Industry
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good understanding of DSCSA and EPCIS.
