GIS Technician

We’re hiring a GIS Technician who will be responsible for maintaining and updating GIS and system-of-record data supporting fiber optic network infrastructure. This role is responsible for creating and editing spatial datasets from CAD, GPS, and as-built documentation, performing quality control, producing maps, and supporting engineering, construction, and utility locating (811/One Call) needs.

What You’ll Do:

· Maintain and manage GIS databases and spatial data supporting fiber optic network infrastructure, incorporating field survey data, as-builts, and legacy records

· Create, edit, and update spatial datasets using CAD drawings, GPS/mobile field data, maps, sketches, splice documentation, and field notes

· Maintain accurate fiber network records including routes, circuits, splice details, and asset documentation within system-of-record platforms (e.g., Vetro)

· Apply established data standards and quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of GIS datasets

· Analyze and interpret utility maps, field imagery, photographs, schematics, and tabular data to support network documentation and project needs

· Other duties as assigned

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Utility locating?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Associate Degree in GIS or equivalent industry experience

• 2+ years of experience in drafting preferred
• 2+ years of experience with interpreting utility, topographic, street or profile maps
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
• Experience with GIS software
• Working knowledge of splicing documents/splice matrix’s preferred
• Valid driver’s license and must be insurable, * Ability to commute to Wauwatosa, WI 53226 until building renovations are completed in Glendale, WI 53209?
• Do you have any experience working in the utility and/or telecommunications industry?
