MTSS Specialist

• Organize, coordinate and co-facilitate the work of the District MTSS Team for designated school

• Appropriately use and facilitate the use of program quality/fidelity data and outcome data at all levels of the system (District and building-level analysis)

• Assist with designing intervention and monitoring response to intervention for students that are struggling

• Facilitate school MTSS Team in developing strategic plans for intervention and growth for all students.

• Monitor and report student achievement data associated with the multi-tier assessments.

• Manage student intervention caseloads

• Mentor and lead school-based problem-solving teams through development and implementation of MTSS at all tiers

• Serve as a liaison to Administrators, Teachers, Counselors, School Social Workers, School Psychologists and other stakeholders to develop appropriate positive behavior interventions and supports through MTSS

• Customize and facilitate professional development in behavior and MTSS, based on school needs

• Develop others with effective coaching strategies.

• Read, interpret and apply legal mandates, policies, rules, regulations and operational procedures pertaining to school and departmental operations

• Provide support for schools to accelerate student achievement and eliminating all achievement gaps

• Develop goals and objective; establish and meet schedules and timelines; work with discretion and confidentiality

• Define projects and specifications; deal with a variety of projects simultaneously; prepare clear and concise management reports

• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships

• Understand and carry out oral and written directions

• Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form in a clear and concise manner

• Exchange and retrieve information in person and on the telephone

• Apply policies and procedures related to the assigned duties and responsibilities of the position with good judgment in a variety of situations

• Assist District and School Administrators in the implementation of multi-tier systems of support using balanced assessments to inform literacy and behavior

• Maintains records as required by the school, District, and/or State and makes appropriate reports as directed

• Communicate and work closely with the classroom teachers, while assisting in the development of each students’ intervention program

• Have in-depth knowledge of data collection and progress monitoring

• Model lessons and strategies in the classroom

• Develop and provide materials for/with colleagues

• Visit classrooms and provide feedback to teachers

• Consult with District curriculum/instruction, Special Education, EL and Student Services personnel regarding strategies and techniques to foster process of struggling students

• Identify best practices regarding teaching, instruction, and assessments in MTSS

• Assist teachers in building an interactive classroom environment focused on the District-identified Tier I instructional strategies

• Perform fidelity checks to ensure interventions are being implemented as planned/expected

• Collaborate with curriculum staff to develop and implement integrated curriculum relating to improving student achievement and closing the achievement gap

• Work closely with school leaders to provide instructional leadership in assigned area to schools for accelerating proficiency and academic achievement of all student, especially those groups that have not reached proficiency

• Facilitate school-based professional learning community (PLC) team meetings

• Keep parents, Administrators and community stakeholders informed about intervention processes in the school system. Work with State, community, civic, business and higher education partners to resolve educational issues

• Submit monthly intervention data reports to the District Cabinet

• All other duties as assigned

Pay: $61,269.00 - $102,669.00 per year

Do you have a valid Teaching Certification license?, Do you have experience in Working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, 1. Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree in the Education, Special Education

or Reading Specialist preferred) with extensive coursework in Special

Education.

1. Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate(s) required

2. Minimum five (5) years teaching experience

3. Knowledge of instruction, relevant curriculum and strategies leading to

success for students not meeting grade-level standards.

1. Experience in Special Education and/or English language instruction

preferred

1. Knowledge of research findings in an MTSS environment that includes

Responsiveness to Instruction (RtI) and Positive Behavior Support (PBIS)

1. Knowledge of research-based interventions

2. Strong background in effective implementation of professional

development, data assessment and instructional coaching.

1. Thorough knowledge of principles of diversity, equity and inclusion,

including how these topics intersect with the MTSS in each school

1. Analyze assessment and other relevant data to assist in creating goals and

objectives and evaluating the effectiveness of program services

1. Thorough understanding of State standards

2. Understanding of culture, lifestyle, educational and social needs of ethnic

and marginalized students and children of poverty

1. Computer technology and software skills

2. Strong knowledge of culturally responsive teaching
