Job description

Candidate will be responsible for performing quality-related activities in support of the company’s quality manager and the company’s overall quality goals. In addition, the candidate will participate in research & development activities in our laboratory., * Inspect and verify incoming raw materials against specifications and certificates of analysis before release to production or receipt into inventory.

  • Run laboratory tests such as rheology and viscosity testing (MDR/ODR) to verify physical property characteristics of material used in molding.
  • Perform dimensional inspection of molded parts using calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, optical comparators, and vision systems against engineering prints.
  • Conduct hardness testing (Shore A durometer) on finished parts.
  • Perform visual defect inspection for flash, non-fills, backrinds, blisters, inclusions, and tears.
  • Monitor and verify process parameters (temperature, pressure, cure time) and pull parts at set intervals for in-process checks.
  • Issue quality alerts to operators not following established procedures.
  • Complete first-article inspections for new tooling and process setups.
  • Run physical-property testing on cured samples (tensile, elongation, modulus, tear, compression set, specific gravity).
  • Record quality data in MRP system, document inspection results, maintain control charts, and apply SPC methods.
  • Write up non-conformances, segregate suspect material, and support disposition decisions (use-as-is, rework, scrap).
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5-Why, fishbone)
  • Maintain calibration of gauges and test equipment.
  • Support internal and customer audits, and contribute to PPAP submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with quality system requirements and maintain full traceability of batches and shipments.
  • Keep work area neat and organized, be compliant with 6S policy in the lab and perform both daily and other cleanups as necessary.
  • Run small volume production jobs as directed by supervision.
  • Be familiar with all and able to operate injection and convetionally-molded lab presses.
  • Recognize, troubleshoot and correct molding problems without direction from supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Certified Quality Technician certification?, Do you have experience in Statistics?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years of quality or quality or laboratory experience in a rubber, plastics, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and quality specifications.
  • Proficiency with dimensional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, comparators).
  • Working knowledge of SPC, basic statistics, and quality documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate record-keeping, and clear written communication.
  • Basic computer skills (data entry, spreadsheets, quality/ERP systems)., * Associate degree in a technical, quality, or materials
  • Experience in a rubber molding and/or compound mixing operation.
  • Familiarity with rubber testing equipment such as rheometers (MDR/ODR), Mooney viscometers, and durometers.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Experience with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and control plans.
  • Familiarity with root-cause/corrective-action methods (8D, 5-Why, fishbone).
  • Certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and handle samples and materials up to 25-50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working near heat, noise, and processing equipment with required PPE.
  • Willingness to 7A-5P regularly
