IT Project Manager (DOH/ITSD Position #27767)

The Department of Health (DOH) is a state agency that oversees New Mexico’s public health system, statewide epidemiology and emergency response services, the state scientific laboratory, and seven residential care facilities. DOH’s Information Technology Services Division’s (ITSD) Project Management Office (PMO) provides guidance to ensure the success of the agency’s IT projects.

The IT PM-II position is a member of the Department of Health’s IT Services Division’s Project Management Office. The IT PM-II is responsible for managing concurrent medium and large IT projects using industry standard disciplines and best practices, project phases, knowledge areas, and processes and gathering requirements for IT professional service requests. The IT PM-II ensures compliance with Department of Information Technology (DolT) IT requirements and State IT procurement rules as they relate to contracts, requests for proposals, sole sources and invitations to bid. The IT PM-II manages resources to ensure that the projects successfully meet the scope, budget and schedule objectives. How does it get done?

The IT PM-II position’s key responsibilities include providing expertise for IT project stakeholders from initiation to closeout; development of project documentation such as charters, project management plans, certification documents, presentations, monthly reports and technical review documents; development and processing of procurement documentation and management of project budgets; working knowledge of Department of Information Technology (DolT) IT requirements and State IT procurement rules to guide the project; documenting project activity to produce project metrics; and managing resources to ensure that projects successfully meet the scope, budget and schedule objectives. The IT PM-II position provides IT project services to the Department of Health staff that provide health services to the people living in New Mexico.

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Managing projects?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration, or Information Technology and four (4) years of experience in software development, project management, or systems analysis, with a minimum two (2) years of experience in the PM role. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience. CAPM/PMI- ACP certification may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. PMP/PgMP certification may be substituted for two (2) years of experience. Employment Requirements

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
