Job description

The Python Developer (AI Tools & Automation) supports the development, deployment, and maintenance of Python-based and AI-enabled systems that enhance the company’s weaving operations. This role builds automation tools and AI-driven applications that assist with loom scheduling, machine efficiency tracking, downtime analysis, and managing style and component complexity. The position evaluates operational challenges across weaving areas and develops Python and AI solutions that streamline decision-making, reduce bottlenecks, and help the organization meet production and shipping goals.

This position is not H-1B eligible, and remote or hybrid work arrangements will not be considered. You must be available to report to the manufacturing plant in Valdese, NC 5 days a week., * Develops, maintains, and improves Python applications and AI-powered tools that support loom scheduling, machine performance tracking, downtime analysis, and production forecasting

  • Reviews operational challenges on the manufacturing floor and uses Python, data processing, and AI models/APIs to identify causes, suggest improvements, and support increased machine uptime and fabric quality
  • Analyzes data from looms, sensors, downtime logs, and production reports to refine automation and AI tools, improving the accuracy of insights, predictions, and recommendations
  • Designs and implements new AI-assisted utilities, operator tools, or data integrations that simplify work and reduce manual tasks
  • Collaborates with weaving supervisors, technicians, planners, and the Information Systems team to ensure Python and AI tools support production objectives
  • Assists leadership in documenting technology needs, planning future improvements, and identifying equipment or software purchases related to automation and AI development
  • Monitors AI and automation systems to ensure they remain accurate, reliable, and effective, and recommends updates or retraining when needed
  • Works closely with the IT department to ensure all automation and AI systems follow company security standards and align with long-term technology plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Safety: Safely perform all duties following guidelines established by company

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working with Python, AI development, automation tools, or data analysis in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work well with others
