Job description

Maximise hardware capabilities through smart crafting to deliver fastest possible financial software

We are seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer, skilled in creating highly-optimised low level code to run under Linux. As a senior member of this Cambridge-based development team, you will play a leading role throughout the SDLC from defining initial requirements to software implementation, verification and deployment.

Your focus will be on dependability as well as seeking clever optimisations to take best advantage of the underlying hardware. You will interact with colleagues with other technical background such as electronics and FPGA design, as well as the end users of the code you create. Your knowledge will help steer the technical direction of the team and provide mentoring for less experienced colleagues.

You will need: A solid academic background in computer science, electronics, or a similarly applicable subject. Excellent software design and development skills together with the in-depth knowledge of how C++ works under the skin, allowing you to avoid performance pitfalls and create fast, reliable code. A good understanding of Linux, as well as areas such as concurrency, network protocols, and CPU architectures. Existing coding skills, or a demonstrable interest in Rust. Great team work, communication, and analytical skills. Full existing UK work permission. A highly competitive package is on offer to the successful candidate, including a performance-based bonus. Joining at an exciting point, this is an excellent chance to join a company that’s committed to staying at the technological forefront of what they do, and to nurturing the development of their employees.
